That after so many years of working without tools to try to help children with obesity now get to be involved in developing treatments that really work is enormously fun.

If you were to create a new day to celebrate, what would it celebrate?
Of course we will have an Evira day when we meet and listen to how users, both patients and healthcare, describe how they use Evira to improve their health.

Professional background

I am an experienced pediatrician with a broad background from different countries and healthcare systems in both primary, secondary and tertiary care, combined with a solid postgraduate education

  • Transition between different countries and healthcare systems

  • Link between clinic and medical science within Evira

A few words from Karen

Demands on health care systems are increasing, our population continues to grow while resources are becoming scarce. We must develop, find new opportunities and solutions to meet future demands in health care. Childhood obesity has become the new global threat and must therefore be prioritized. We need to think outside the box, connect our knowledge and skills to form symbiotic relationships and solutions that we could not imagine before to solve the problems of the future.

If you were to create a new day to celebrate, what would it celebrate?

I think we should pay much more attention to November 11 than we do today. We celebrate cinnamon bun day, semlan day, but how come we don't celebrate chocolate day on November 11?

Louise Lindberg

Professional background

Public health scientist, PhD
Worked with childhood obesity in various research projects for +10 years and with the Swedish Childhood Obesity Treatment Register (BORIS).
Her doctoral thesis focused on childhood obesity, with an emphasis on psychosocial consequences during childhood and early mortality in young adulthood.

  • Responsible for Evira's research project

  • Clinic recruitment in Sweden

A few words from Louise

Through our research projects, we anchor Evira in a scientific basis, which ensures the treatment method and reliable data. The research also helps Evira to develop and grow, but above all to spread knowledge to a wider audience, which feels incredibly important, not least so that this patient group will receive the care they need.

If you were to create a new day to celebrate, what would it celebrate?

How lovely isn't it to laugh!!? It boosts your mood, strengthens your immune system, and reduces stress, to name just a few positive effects. That's why I think we should celebrate Laughter Day on the first Sunday in May.

Now having the opportunity to meet caregivers who use Evira makes the work even more inspiring and fun. Together we can make a difference!

If you were to create a new day to celebrate, what would it celebrate?

September 13: Artichoke Day! This delicious vegetable is aesthetically very beautiful and appealing. During Artichoke Day, artichokes are sold on every street corner. Before the day, people decorate their home by filling their flower vases with artichokes. Just in time for September 13, the vegetable's gloriously brilliant purple flower will emerge. The day ends with my personal favorite: Boiled artichoke with butter, lemon and sea salt.

This due to the fact that it is a growing global challenge.

As a big fan of the stories about Harry Potter, I of course wish that we would all celebrate a little extra on May 2 when Harry Potter Day falls. On that day, you can take the opportunity to eat chocolate frogs & drink Butterbeer. Those who are a little more daring also try Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. Do you dare to taste?!
